This Publishing Policy explains what you can publish on Glare Books, the standards we hold every title to, and how rights, fees, and earnings work. It applies to everyone who submits work through the Author Studio and sits alongside our Terms of Service. Our aim is simple: keep the catalogue trustworthy for readers while giving authors a fair, transparent deal.
Who can publish
You can publish if you are at least 18 years old and you own — or have written permission to use — all the rights in the work you submit. You'll be asked to confirm that the work is yours and that selling it on Glare Books does not breach anyone else's rights or any agreement you've signed.
What we accept
We publish along three routes:
- Books — original works of fiction or non-fiction, sold as soft copies, hard copies, or both.
- Dissertations — BSc, MSc, and PhD research, sold digitally in the Dissertation Store.
- Other-publisher titles — works you already hold the rights to and want to sell here, reviewed on the same terms as any book.
Submission requirements
Submissions are made through the guided form in the Author Studio. You'll provide your manuscript in the accepted format, a cover image that meets our specifications, and the metadata that helps readers find your work — title, description, categories, and pricing. Files should be final, proofread, and free of placeholder content.
Editorial review & standards
Real editors review every submission before it goes live. We look at originality, readability, structure, and whether the metadata and cover accurately represent the work. Straightforward titles are reviewed and listed; more complex projects may move into a collaborative Studio where we work with you on changes. Review is about quality and honesty, not censoring viewpoints.
Content guidelines
To keep the catalogue safe and lawful, we do not accept work that: infringes copyright, trademarks, or other rights; is plagiarised or AI-generated and passed off as original without disclosure; contains hate speech, incitement to violence, or unlawful content; sexualises minors; is defamatory; or is designed to mislead or defraud readers. We may decline or remove anything that breaches these guidelines.
Rights & ownership
You keep full ownership of your work. By publishing, you grant Glare Books a non-exclusive licence to review, reproduce, display, market, distribute, and sell it (in digital and/or print form) through the Service for as long as it is listed. You warrant that the work is yours, is original or properly licensed, and does not infringe any third-party rights. You can unlist your title, ending new sales, at any time.
Fees & earnings
Publishing involves a single, transparent publishing fee, calculated live in the submission form so you see the full breakdown before you commit. Once your title is live, you earn a commission on every sale, tracked in your Author Studio and paid out on schedule. There are no surprise charges — what you agree to at submission is what applies.
Pricing & availability
You set your title's price within any limits shown in the form, and you can request changes. We may display promotional pricing or bundle offers from time to time in a way that does not reduce your agreed commission structure without notice. You control whether your title stays listed, is unlisted, or is permanently removed.
Revisions & updates
You can submit an updated version of a live title — for example, to fix errata or refresh a cover. Significant changes go through review again so the listed version continues to meet our standards. Readers who already own a title keep access to the version they purchased in their Library.
Unlisting, removal & complaints
You may unlist or remove your title at any time from the Author Studio; relisting may require a quick re-approval. We may also unlist or remove a title that breaches this policy or is the subject of a valid legal or intellectual-property complaint. If you believe a title on Glare Books infringes your rights, contact us with details and we will investigate promptly.
Rejection & appeals
If we can't accept a submission, we'll tell you why and, where possible, what you can change. Many declined submissions succeed after revisions. If you think a decision was made in error, reply to the review notes or contact us and we'll take another look.
Questions & contact
This policy may be updated as the platform grows; the "last updated" date above shows the current version. If you have any questions before you submit, we're glad to help — reach us through the Contact page.
